About Us

About Us

Every year, as the nights grow longer and the air begins to hum with anticipation, something timeless awakens.

It starts softly.
A prayer.
A diya flickering in quiet devotion.
A memory of home.

And then, slowly… it becomes a rhythm.

The sound of dandiya striking in perfect sync.
The swirl of vibrant ghagras under glowing lights.
Laughter echoing across generations.
A community moving as one - not just in dance, but in spirit.

This is where our story lives.

Where devotion finds its rhythm

Where devotion finds its rhythm

Where devotion finds its rhythm

For over 18 years, the Navratri Festival Society has been nurturing this experience in Vancouver, not as an event, but as a living tradition carried across oceans.

What began as a simple desire to stay connected to our roots has grown into something much deeper. A space where culture is not performed, but felt. Where devotion is not just ritual, but presence. Where every step of garba is a quiet conversation between the past and the present.

We are a volunteer-led, non-profit community built on shared intention, to create a Navratri that feels authentic, inclusive, and alive.

Source of energy

Maa Amba

At the heart of everything we do is Maataji - the source of strength, energy, and creation.

Each night, we gather not just to celebrate, but to honor.

Through puja, through music, through movement.

Garba becomes more than dance, it becomes a circle of connection.

Raas becomes more than rhythm, it becomes joy in motion.

And somewhere between the beats and the prayers, something beautiful happens:

strangers become familiar,

families grow closer,

and traditions find new life.

Where culture moves forward

But this festival is not only about remembering where we come from. It is about carrying it forward.

Through every event, every song, every shared meal,
we create a bridge -

between generations,
between cultures,
between heritage and the world we live in today.

Because culture does not survive by being preserved in silence.
It survives by being lived, shared, and celebrated together.

So whether you arrive with years of tradition in your heart,
or you’re stepping into Navratri for the very first time…

You belong here.

Come as you are.
Dance as you feel.
Celebrate as one.

✨ This is Navratri.

✨ This is community.

✨ This is home.
